Does anyone like Steampunk?

i love people's being creative with this genre.

i stumbled on this video which is a lot of fun.

jwundubbed I loved my mac, don't get me wrong, but... the old macs you could upgrade or have a chance at fixing because they had a tower. Trying to do any kind of fix is impossible nowdays for most, because of the design. But I hate this kind of forced "rely on us" kind of thing. The very thing Apple was against - the 1984 big brother commercial - is what they have become. For the same reason, I'm really feeling like giving up on Photoshop elements, Their "new" and "Improved" product is just annoying. I wish I could use the version I started out with years ago because it was simple and it gave me the results I wanted.

Still Totally ADD - I like it's uniqueness too. There was a program on Hulu I think, that had steampunkers doing "rooms" That was cool to the max. : )

TD - I think the time machine is steampunk. Just ahead (or behind) it's time. hahaha

LisaRose - I love your costumes! You could easily go around a steampunk convention with those. Must have been fun making the guns.

Bible is good if we look for implied truth

but if we look for the implied meaning, then it is a positive, informal signal indicating a job well done, and saying ‘keep it up.’.

similarly, biblical accounts don’t convey much if we see them as mere accounts.

People will do a "bucket" list when they find out they may only have a year or less left to live. Do all the things they thought they had enough time to do in a lifetime in a few weeks or months.

What else should they do? Trudge on as they always did and then die?

A guy at work that I talk to, has had many young friends die in accidents or drug overdoses. He views life as fleeting so do the things you like.

Yes, god does not answer prayers or listens. My personal view on this world is that it was created, but not by a god that overlooks everything. Just someone or many that wanted to experiment in making up an ecosystem and living things. That doesn't mean that it is "perfect" in any way. Why not have things if they make you happy? Sure you can't take them with you. Religion, at least the JW brand, wants you not to enjoy hobbies or leisure or music or just living life if it interferes with slaving for "god". Religion also takes away the natural desire and action to stop injustice. "We should wait for God to fix things."

I would like a better answer to death and people slowly being tortured by old age. But I realize now that waiting on a "god" is useless.

Why does this sure thing as death have no effect on people?

What effect would you want death to have on them?

I was afraid to listen to it after reading fisherman's post. But I like it. I wish the music volume was a little less because it drowns out the singing.

Looks like it was fun to do the old fashioned stop motion animation too.

i don't celebrate christmas but in its place which is sad i know.

Yeah, it's tough to pick up something that doesn't have a past with you. I only know of christmas trees from my neighbor friend across the street when I was growing up. I liked the smell most of all as well as the warm glow from the lights.

I think it's a great idea to have a present day. Nothing wrong with making that your special day.

I Remember........

when my mom first started to study in the 1960's the first kh and congregation we went to was a big open room over a grocery store.

i remember in the 1970's having circuit assemblies in rented facilities the local brothers would arrange for.

i remember three regular accounts, donations for the society, donations for the local congregation/kh, and the literature account.

I think along the lines of - Russell spinning his own crazy thoughts into a racket, and yet believing it in the end. And once it took off, you have the clever charlatan like Rutherford who knew what a money maker it could be, taking control.

So it is like a two headed dragon. Deluded men who believe they are anointed and making decisions that affect millions are one side. The other is just cold calculating businessmen with probably a few psychopaths and sociopaths thrown in. You'd be surprised how often psychopaths get up the ladder in the business world as well as lawyers. They don't have a conscience to bother them.

If this is the state of affairs with humans, it is pointless for God to communicate with them! This is the irony from the Bible, the so-called written communication of God that it is pointless for God to communicate with humans.

Interesting that is your conclusion. Is this yours alone or is it shared by others? What I gather from this, is that you are saying the bible is about how hard God has tried to help people, guide them etc, and for all his efforts he has to walk away defeated by people who just won't listen. But the bible in your opinion, is only a so-called written communication. So you don't believe the bible is from God.

What is from god then, from your beliefs? Nature - dreams - existence? Does God communicate with you or anyone? Is it just observance, a feeling, a revelation from a long dead person? Do you have written communications from god? or gods. Is someone reincarnated so they have special information?

Your information, as implied, is presented by you in the hope that enlightenment will occur to us that read the posts. But the actual content is much like the bible.

this has always baffled me.

that is why was satan and his demons allowed to be in heaven for so long after they split from god?.

if we did that then we are out of the congregation, members are shunned and also kicked out of families homes.

Why the move to Warwick?

i've seen a lot of posts around and about warwick and the goings on there but was curious as to people's theories on why the move to warwick?

granted there's the obvious point about all of the money from the sale of properties in brooklyn but for as massive as warwick is, the purchase of an apartment complex there, multiple sites and buildings i would be surprised if they had much left from all of the profits.

so beyond a financial incentive why move?

I also think (after seeing the infamous sprinkling of the protesters) that they feel more secure and able to "defend" their new home. No pesky protesters on their very doorstep. If people do protest, it's not in the big city where thousands may see it as opposed to the smaller amount driving by at Warwick.
